The ancient town of Luang Prabang situated in northern Laos, sits on a peninsular at the confluence of two rivers, the Nam Khan and the famous, Mekong. Considered by many travellers and writers as being the heart of Laotian culture, the tiny town is encircled by mountains and is 700 metres above the sea level. Luang Prabang is Laos' premier tourist destination and Southeast Asia's most beautiful spot and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. Luang Prabang was the ancient royal capital of the LanXang Kingdom until King Pothisarat moved the administrative seat to Vientiane in 1545. The town of Luang Prabang owes its present name to the Pha Bang, a revered Buddha image (now in the Royal Palace Museum) which was brought to the town in the early 1500s.

The king of the mice lived inside a banyan tree in a forest. One day, a poor man was cutting down some trees. As he started to cut down the banyan tree, the king of the mice grew frightened "Please, leave the tree standing" he said to the woodcutter, "and I'll give you a piece of gold every day." The woodcutter agreed. So, every evening the king of the mice took out a piece of gold from under the roots of the tree and gave it to the woodcutter. The woodcutter took the pieces of gold home and showed them to his wife. After a few days, his wife asked him, "Where does the gold come from?" "Don't worry about that," he said, "just keep it," A few days later she asked him again, but he did not tell her. "If you don't tell me," she said, "I'll go and tell the government or even the king that you're a robber." The woodcutter was frightened of his wife when she was angry. So he said, "Every evening the king of the mice gives me a piece of gold from under the roots of the tree." "Oh , you are stupid!" his wife said. "You 've been tricked by a mouse. He gives you one piece of gold every evening but the rest of the gold is under the tree all the time! Why don't you cut down the tree and take it all away?" The woodcutter did as he was told. He cut down the tree. But when he looked under the roots, the gold was not there. The king of the mice had run away too. That night, the king of the mice crept up to the woodcutter's house and took back all the gold. So the woodcutter was as poor as before. |

I like doing many things with my friends in every weekends, especially on Sunday morning. Although morning-time spans not that long, I try to spend every second with them and it feels like a long weekend indeed. It all began at 06.00 a.m. I went to a car free day with all my best friends by riding our bicycles. On one of the spots, we did things we like, such as chit-chatting, jogging, telling jokes, and showing-off our bike. We did these things until we got bored, then I looked at my wristwatch. The time flew until it was 09.30 a.m. We then decided to go back to our home. When I arrived at home, I directly threw my tired body to my cozy bed. Suddenly, a scream of my name was heard across my room. It was my sister. She told me to pack my bag and prepare to go with her. I was wondering for a moment and straightly remembered that I had a plan with her: I had to be a wig model for my sister. Without any delay, I washed my face, combed my hair, and immediately went with her. We arrived in the afternoon at 01.30 p.m. at one of malls in Jakarta. After some hectic events, we finally got to see the show we want to watch. It was a Korean fashion festival. It covered many interesting performances, such as Korean fashion style, Hanbok shows, cover dance, Korean solo cover song, and many more. After spending almost 5 hours there, we went home using a pre-ordered cab. After we arrived, I laid myself to my bed and got my rest as tomorrow I have to go to school early. My morning Sunday routines and the incidental activities that followed become the best memory in my life. They always become great weekends which I love. I can 't wait to have another holiday like those Sundays. |

A mother duck and her little ducklings were on their way to a lake one day. The ducklings were very happy following their mother and quack-quacking along the way. All of a sudden the mother duck saw a fox at a distance. She was frightened and shouted, "Children, hurry to the lake. There's a fox!" The ducklings hurried towards the lake. The mother duck wondered what to do. She began to walk back and forth dragging one wing on the ground. When the fox saw her, he became happy. He said to himself, "It seems that she's hurt and can't fly! I can easily catch and eat her!" Then he ran towards her. The mother duck ran , leading the fox away from the lake. The fox followed her. Now, he wouldn't be able to harm her ducklings. The mother duck looked towards her ducklings and saw that they had reached the lake. She was relieved, so she stopped and took a deep breath. The fox thought she was tired and he came closer, but the mother duck quickly spread her wings and rose up in the air. She landed in the middle of the lake and her ducklings swam to her. The fox stared in disbelief at the mother duck and her ducklings. He could not reach them because they were in the middle of the lake. In this way she fooled her enemy thinking she was hurt. When the enemy followed her, this gave her children time to escape. |

Earthquake often happens around us. It brings great damages. Earthquake is hard to be predicted and that makes a lot of victims. Actually there are three kinds of earthquake. The different kinds of earthquake are commonly based on the factor and geological area where the earthquakes happen. These three kinds of earthquake are tectonic, volcanic, explosive. Tectonic earthquake is the most common one. This kind of earthquake happens while earth 's crust rocks break because of the geological strength created by moving of the earth's plates. Volcanic earthquakes happen exactly with volcanic activity. Volacanic earthquakes are when the volcano produces acidic lava, which dries quickly. When it dries quickly it blocks the top of the volcano. This makes no more magma can escape. Pressure starts to build up and eventually the acidic lava can no longer stand the pressure. So, the volcano is free to explode. The pressure is released so fast that an earthquake is caused. A volcano earthquake is usually kept within 10 - 20 miles from the volcano. Explosive earthquakes are the result of the collapse earthquakes where small earthquakes occur in underground mines and caverns. |

On Wednesday, my students and I went to Yogyakarta. We stayed at Dirgahayu Hotel which is not far from Malioboro. On Thursday we visited the temples in Prambanan. There are three big temples, the Brahmana, Syiwa, and Wisnu temples. They are really amazing. We visited only Brahmana and Syiwa temples, because Wisnu temple was being renovated. On Friday morning we went to a kraton of Yogyakarta, we spent about two hours there. We were lucky because we were led by a smart and friendly guide. Then we continued our journey to Borobudur. We arrived there at four p.m. At 5 p.m. we heard an announcement that Borobudur gate would be closed. In the evening we left for Jakarta by Wisata bus. |

Turtles belong to reptiles characterised by a special bony or cartilaginous shell developed from their ribs and acting as a shield. "Turtle" may refer to the order as a whole (American English) or to fresh-water and sea-dwelling testudines (British English). The testudines include both extant and extinct species. The earliest known members of this group date from 157 million years ago, making turtles one of the oldest reptile groups and a more ancient group than snakes or crocodilians. The 327 known species alive today, some are highly endangered. Turtles are ectotherms-their internal temperature varies according to the ambient environment, commonly called cold-blooded. However, because of their high metabolic rate, leatherback sea turtles have a body temperature that is noticeably higher than the surrounding water. Turtles are classified as amniotes, along with other reptiles, birds, and mammals. Like other amniotes, turtles breathe air and do not lay eggs underwater, although many species live in or around water.
